Hello dear readers!
Today I share a pleasant red wine from the hills of San Colombano, near Milan.
Belvedere, produced by Poderi di San Pietro, is a Bordeaux blend (60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon), which is aged in Barriques (small oak cask) for 18 months, in order to extend the wine structure, the perfumes and aromas.
Really interesting, even for a high price quality ratio, I tried the 2009 vintage.
At the nose aromas of ripe red fruit including cherry and plum, blackberry jam, humid earth, black pepper, tobacco, coffee, and then a hint of bell pepper, typical of Cabernet Sauvignon.
On the palate this wine is rounded, quite fruity, with delicate tannins and a good persistence.
I find Belvedere suitable for first courses with meat sauces, medium-aged cheeses and second courses based on meat.
